APSR / Distinguished Service and Commitment Award

This Award is in recognition of a person who is not a healthcare professional, but has made a tremendous contribution towards the work of the APSR for an extended period. It is limited to those who have not only served in any normal capacity or position in APSR, but have also helped to steer the development of APSR beyond their regular duty and service.

The Award is usually presented at the Gala Dinner at the annual APSR congress. The Award is arranged and funded by the APSR, not the congress.

Selection:
  • Members of the APSR Steering Committee members, the two most recent past presidents and the chairperson of Nomination Committee can nominate candidates, or receive suggestions to nominate candidates
  • Nominations must be received by the APSR president at least three months before the APSR Congress
  • The APSR president will assess eligibility of each candidate and propose them to APSR Executive Committee for endorsement
  • It is expected there will be one or two awardees, if any, each year
The Award:
  • Complimentary registration to the congress
  • If physically attending the congress:
    • US$500 travel grant
    • Up to three nights complimentary accommodation at a hotel designated by APSR congress
    • Invitation to the Gala Dinner
    • Certificate presented by the APSR president at the Gala Dinner or another award ceremony
  • If not physically attending the congress:
    • Certificate sent to the awardee by post
    • Acknowledgement by the APSR president at a virtual awards ceremony, where possible
    • Announcement on congress media
  • Recognition on this webpage (see below) and Timeline
  • Photo and comment on APSR social media
The Awardee:
  • Must not be a healthcare professional
  • Must have made tremendous contribution and help to steer the development of APSR, beyond their regular duty and service
  • Must have made that contribution and help for more than ten years
  • Must not have received the same award before
