The APSR has established different award categories to recognize the members or individuals for their exemplary and outstanding contribution /performances in the field of respiratory medicine.

Policies, rules and regulations governing awards are administered by the following:

All Established Awards

• APSR Medal

  The APSR Medal is given by the APSR in appreciation for the Awardee's commitment to the advancement of respirology in the Asian Pacific region, including major achievements in advocacy, teaching, clinical practice and leadership. It enshrines excellence in research and translation, and recognises the exceptional contribution made to the growth of the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology.

• Michiyoshi Harasawa Research Award

  The Professor Michiyoshi Harasawa Research Award is given in memory of the late Dr Harasawa, who died September 2001. The award is given to a person who embodies the leadership and respect of his/her peers and who excels in the field of Pulmonary Medicine.

  Dr Harasawa is highly respected Professor of Medicine from Japan, a clinician and a researcher in the field of Pulmonary Medicine and Geriatrics. His leadership, dedication and commitment in the field of respiratory medicine led him to pioneer and form the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology (APSR) in 1986 that became a highly structured and leading society of pulmonologists in the Asian Pacific region.

• Ann Janet Woolcock Research Award

  The Ann Janet Woolcock Research Award is given in memory of the late Dr Woolcock who died February 2001. The award is given to a person who embodies the leadership and respect of his/her peers and who excels in the field of Pulmonary Medicine.

  Dr Woolcock was an eloquent Professor of Medicine from Australia, a clinician and researcher in the field of pulmonary medicine with particular specialization in the physiology and epidemiology of Bronchial Asthma. She helped Dr Harasawa form the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology (APSR) in 1986.

• Fukuchi Award for the Best Original Paper in Respirology

  The Fukuchi Award for the Best Original Paper in Respirology is bestowed to the author of a published article in Respirology for the past 12 months that is deemed as the "best paper" selected by the Respirology Editorial Office.

• APSR Travel Awards

  Abstracts will be considered for a limited number of Travel Awards. The highly-coveted award will be offered based on the scientific merit of the abstract.

• APSR Young Investigator Travel Awards

  Presenting Authors up to the age of 40 at the time of the Congress, will be considered for the Young Investigator Award. This highly-coveted award will be based on the scientific merit of the abstract. Presenters are required to provide official documentary proof of age before they can receive the award.

• APSR ERS Young Investigator Awards

  Two ERS members up to the age of 40 at the time of the APSR Congress, will be awarded based on the quality of their abstracts. Presenters are required to provide official documentary proof of age before they can receive the award.

• Other Young Investigator Awards

  Awarded to APSR Young Investigators from Asia-Pacific LMICs* who present the best overall paper in each relevant category at the APSR Congress.

Important notes

• Application for an award must submitted with your abstract. No late application will be accepted.
• The applicant must be Presenting Author of the abstract at APSR 2019.
• The applicant must not be receiving travel funds from other sources.
• The abstract cannot be published before APSR 2019.
• You must register with full payment before 14 November. Registration fees will be reimbursed to awardees.
• You must conduct the oral or poster presentation yourself at the Congress.
• No substitution is allowed.
