Quality of life is impaired in severe asthma carers. We have shown, through a larger sample of carers using a quantitative online survey, the burden of caring for people with severe asthma. Using a validated tools to capture concepts of well-being can be useful to reduce carer burden. |

We investigated the effect of high-flow nasal cannula oxygen therapy (HFNC) on the exercise capacity of patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. HFNC exceeded the efficacy of conventional oxygen therapy and might be useful in pulmonary rehabilitation. |

This global RCT in patients with suspected sarcoidosis stage I/II with an indication for endosonographic nodal sampling showed a similarly high granuloma detection rate and sensitivity for diagnosing sarcoidosis with endobronchial ultrasound versus endoscopic ultrasound-B. The findings imply that both diagnostic tests (endobronchial/oesophageal) can be used safely and universally in suspected sarcoidosis patients. |

This study shows that telemonitoring data from continuous positive airway pressure devices, in particular sudden changes in the apnoea–hypopnoea index, is useful as a sensitive easily accessible indicator to alert for incident Cheyne–Stokes respiration, which is strongly associated with the onset of severe cardiac events such as heart failure or atrial fibrillation. |
