Smoking, respiratory symptoms, lung function and life expectancy: A longitudinal study of ageing
Kate Petrie, Michael J Abramson, Johnson George
10.1111/resp.14683
This study demonstrates a novel method for expressing mortality rates as remaining life expectancy which may be a useful method for communicating risk and prognosis with COPD patients. In settings with limited resources, spirometry may be best targeted at former smokers.

479 | Efficacy of varenicline or bupropion and its association with nicotine metabolite ratio among smokers with COPD

There are limited studies about nicotine metabolic ratio (NMR)-based smoking cessation treatment among patients with COPD in China and elsewhere. Our study showed varenicline has better efficacy than bupropion in normal metabolizers, and bupropion showed equivalent efficacy in slow metabolizers, with less side effects. |

Transbronchial lung cryobiopsy can be performed safely in experienced hands. Radiological traction bronchiectasis and obesity increase the risk of significant bleeding. |

In the steady-state exercise test under three conditions with high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) therapy, oxygen supplementation in HFNC therapy improved exercise tolerance and SpO2. Gas flow did not improve exercise tolerance but did improve SpO2.

10.1111/resp.14697
The EpiGETIF registry has so far prospectively collected data from 2118 patients treated with therapeutic rigid bronchoscopy (TB) for malignant central airway obstruction (MCAO). This first report gives a picture of this population's epidemiological characteristics', anatomical presentations of MCAOs, techniques used during TB and main outcomes.
